- Alma Mater: Westfield State University (BS, 2002)
- Grew up in the Elmhurst neighborhood in Queens and attended Archbishop Molloy HS (NY), where he played basketball for legendary prep head coach Jack Curran
- Played PG for four years at D-III Westfield State (MA); was team captain as a senior in 2001-02
- Joined the coaching staff at George Mason in 2002 as an administrative assistant and video coordinator, starting a long professional relationship with head coach Jim Larrañaga, a fellow Molloy graduate
- Elevated to assistant coach in 2005 and was part of the team that made a “cinderella” run to the Final Four in 2006
- Worked at Mason for a total of nine years, a tenure that included three NCAA Tournaments and two NITs
- Followed Larrañaga down to Miami in 2011 and spent the next eleven seasons working with the Hurricanes
- Part of five more NCAA Tournaments, including the first-ever Elite Eight in program history in 2022
- Elevated to associate head coach in 2015 and took on the role of defensive coordinator on the staff
- In April 2022, Caputo was announced as the new head coach at George Washington in the A-10
