  • Graduated from Martin Luther HS (WI) and then played for head coach John Henry at D-III William Penn (IA)
    • Throughout HS and college, Leonard served as director of the North Shore Basketball Camp in Chicago
  • First coaching job was as an assistant at Shorewood HS in 2004-05, then he joined Rob Nugent’s staff at D-III Washington College (MD)
  • Spent three years in D-I working as director of basketball operations for Tom Schuberth at Texas-Pan American (now UTRGV)
  • Worked under Bo Clark at D-II Flagler (FL) for one season and Jimmy Link at D-II Paine (GA) for two seasons
  • Joined Bart Lundy‘s staff at D-II Queens (NC) in 2013 as an assistant and was elevated to associate head coach in 2016
    • In nine seasons, Lundy‘s staff led the Royals to seven D-II NCAA Tournaments, with one Final Four (in 2018)
  • Leonard was elevated to head coach in March 2022 following Lundy’s departure to Milwaukee
    • His first season was the program’s first year transitioning to Division I and the ASUN Conference
    • Leonard was arrested in October 2022 and charged with DWI; he was suspended for the first five games of the 2022-23 season
