- Has worked as an assistant under Hunter, Greg White, Mark Schmidt, Keith Dambrot and Thad Matta
- Hired in 2016 to be the head coach at Stony Brook, the program’s third head coach since making the jump to Division I
- Led the Seawolves to the 2017 CBI in his first season at the helm
- Through three seasons at Stony Brook, Boals has an overall record of 55-41
- Left Stony Brook in March 2019 to return to his alma mater, Ohio
- Went 17-15 (8-10 MAC) in his first season with the Bobcats
- The 2020-21 Bobcats squad, led by Jason Preston, won the MAC Tournament to earn an automatic NCAA bid
- Won 25 games during the 2021-22 season, tied for 2nd-most in a season in program history
