- Born March 21, 1986
- Hometown: Normangee, Texas
- Alma Mater: Texas A&M University (BA, 2008)
- Graduated from Normangee HS (TX) and played four seasons at Texas A&M for head coaches Billy Gillispie and Mark Turgeon
- The Aggies were 95-37 during his playing career, going to three NCAA Tournaments (with one Sweet Sixteen) and one NIT
- Spent 12 years playing professionally, with stints in Turkey, France, Israel, Spain, Iran, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic
- After retiring in 2020, Jones re-connected with his former A&M coach Billy Gillispie and joined his staff at Tarleton State mid-season in January 2021
- Elevated to acting head coach in November 2023 when Gillispie stepped away for medical reasons
- Led the Texans to a 23-8 record through the rest of the season, was named 2024 WAC COY and reached the CIT semifinals
- Following that season, Gillispie was retained and Jones left to join Austin Claunch‘s staff at UTSA in the AAC
