  • Named All-Monroe County three times in high school and played for head coach Eddie Donovan at St. Bonaventure
  • Became the head coach at his alma mater in 1961 at just 24 years old
    • Compiled a 202-90 record in 12 seasons as the head coach
    • Went to two NCAA Tournaments and two NITs with the program, which was Independent during his tenure
    • Also became the University’s athletic director in 1965
  • Stopped coaching in 1973 and focused solely on being AD, continuing to work in that capacity until 1992
    • Served on the Board of Directors for the Atlantic-10 Conference and later as the league’s President (1985-88)
    • Had successfully lobbied for St. Bonaventure’s admittance into the A-10 in 1979
  • Inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame (class of 2002)
  • Now in retirement, Weise lives in Rochester, NY; a daughter, Kris, is married to former St. Francis (NY) head coach Brian Nash
