Longwood fires head coach Jayson Gee

Jayson Gee has been the head coach at Longwood for the last five seasons, but on Saturday the coach and school parted ways.

The Lancers were eliminated from the Big South Tournament on Thursday, finishing the season 7-26 (3-15). Gee leaves the school with an overall record of 42-120, with only two 10-win seasons out of five. Injuries played a major role in on-court production over the last two seasons, but the school decided that now was the time to make a change.

Longwood has yet to participate in a Division I postseason tournament, having only moved up at the start of the 2007-08 season. However, the program has played in several Division II and III Tournaments including a run to the D-III Final Four in 1980.
