  • Alma Mater: University of South Carolina (BA, 2004)
  • Graduated from Bishop Loughlin HS in Brooklyn and went on to play at South Carolina under head coaches Eddie Fogler and Dave Odom
  • Started coaching right away as a grad manager at Furman under Larry Davis, then as an assistant under Buzz Peterson at Coastal Carolina and as Mike Young‘s associate head coach at Wofford
  • Returned to his alma mater in 2008, spending four seasons as an assistant under Darrin Horn and one more under Frank Martin
  • Joined Brad Underwood‘s staff at Stephen F. Austin in 2013, following Underwood to Oklahoma State in 2016
  • In March 2017, Boynton was promoted to replace Underwood as Oklahoma State head coach
    • Led the Cowboys to the 2018 NIT after just missing a NCAA at-large bid; made the NCAA Tournament in 2021 as a 4-seed
    • Boynton was given a 7-year contract extension in March 2021 that raised his salary to an average of $3 million per season
    • Went 119-109 in seven seasons, with a 12-20 record in 2023-24, and was let go in March 2024
  • Boynton joined the Michigan coaching staff in April 2024 as an assistant under new head coach Dusty May
