- Spent his four undergrad years as a student assistant with the Indiana Hoosiers under HOF head coach Bob Knight
- The Hoosiers went to the NCAA Tournament in each of the four seasons Schrage was there
- Continued his coaching career after graduation, spending one season as director of basketball ops for Rod Barnes at Ole Miss
- Arrived at Duke in 1999, hired as academic and recruiting coordinator under Mike Krzyzewski
- Elevated to director of basketball ops in 2002, spending six years in this role
- The Blue Devils went to the NCAA Tournament in each of Schrage’s nine seasons with the program, going to the Sweet Sixteen seven times, the Final Four twice and winning the 2001 NCAA title
- Left Duke in 2008 to join the staff of Johnny Dawkins, who was hired as head coach at Stanford after ten years at Duke
- Was on the staff for two NIT titles and a NCAA Sweet Sixteen run in eight seasons at Stanford
- Dawkins and staff were let go in 2016 and Schrage subsequently joined Chris Holtmann‘s staff at Butler
- Followed Holtmann to Ohio State a year later, spending two seasons on the Buckeyes’ staff
- Hired in April 2019 to become the head coach at Elon, his first head coaching opportunity
- Resigned after three years in 2022, going 33-52 overall without any postseason appearances
- Returned to Duke to join the staff of new head coach Jon Scheyer as a special assistant coach
- Along with his wife, Amanda, has one son and one daughter
