Robert Ehsan promoted to UAB head coach

Robert Ehsan has been on the staff at UAB since 2012 and today he was elevated to the position of head men’s basketball coach for the Blazers. Ehsan worked under former head coach Jerod Haase, who left Birmingham to take over at Stanford. Like Haase, Ehsan is a California-native and will look to continue the current success of the program that his predecessor left behind.

Ehsan spent the last two seasons as an associate head coach after two seasons as an assistant. He also made stops at Virginia Tech and Maryland before arriving in Alabama. UAB should benefit from the continuity of an internal hire and should not lose much by way of roster turnover. At just 33, Ehsan is by far the youngest head coach in Conference USA.
