Former UT-Arlington head coach Scott Cross hired at Troy
Scott Cross, a TCU assistant who spent 12 seasons as the head coach at Texas-Arlington, has been hired as the next head coach of the Troy Trojans.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Scott and his family to Troy,” AD Jeremy McClain said in a statement. “He has proven throughout his career that he is not only a winner on the court but also a coach that values the importance of developing his players in the classroom and in life. Scott is held in the highest regard among his peers and will be an outstanding addition to our department and our community.”
Cross was 225-161 at Texas-Arlington, his alma mater, leading the Mavericks to the postseason five times before being let go a year ago. Jamie Dixon hired Cross as an assistant for the 2018-19 season, which saw the Horned Frogs finish 20-13 with a NIT berth (they are still alive in the quarterfinals).
