  • Hometown: Boise, Idaho
  • Alma Mater: Lewis-Clark State College (BS, 1999) / University of Utah (MS, 2003)
  • The Idaho-native played two years for Jon Judkins at Snow College (UT) before going back home to play for George Pfeifer at Lewis-Clark State
  • Started his coaching career at NAIA Westminster College in Salt Lake City, spending eight seasons there as an assistant under Tommy Connor
  • Moved over to Salt Lake CC in 2008 to be an assistant under Norm Parrish and then was elevated to head coach in 2011
    • Went 205-58 over eight seasons as the head coach at SLCC, winning three league titles and three league COY awards
    • His 2015-16 team won the NCJAA National Championship, finishing the year 31-8
  • Hired in 2019 at Utah Valley to be an assistant under new head coach Mark Madsen; elevated to associate head coach in 2021
    • In four years under Madsen, Phillips was part of two WAC titles and the program’s second-ever NIT appearance (2023)
  • In April 2023, Phillips was elevated to head coach of the Wolverines; he replaced Madsen, who had recently left for California
