- Alma Mater: South Carolina State University (BA, 2003) / Tennessee State University (MA, 2005)
- The SC-native attended South Carolina State, where he played basketball for head coach Cy Alexander
- Served as team captain in 2003, helping lead the Bulldogs to a NCAA berth via a MEAC Tournament title
- Started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee State, following Alexander there in 2003
- Spent one year as an assistant at D-II LeMoyne-Owen in Memphis before returning to his alma mater in 2006
- Worked as an assistant for one season at SC State under Jamal Brown, then two years at Northwest Florida State
- Returned to the D-I ranks in 2009, spending two seasons at Charleston Southern as an assistant under Barclay Radebaugh and then three seasons assisting Cliff Warren at Jacksonville
- Also served as head coach at West Nassau County HS (FL) for one year and ran the Jacksonville Basketball Academy
- Spent one year on Byron Samuels‘ staff at Florida A&M before linking up with Jay Joyner in 2016
- Was an assistant for two years before Joyner promoted Jones to associate head coach in 2018
- Joyner was suspended indefinitely in December 2019, with Jones tabbed as interim head coach
- Led the Aggies to a 14-5 record (after a 3-10 start) and was awarded 2020 MEAC COY honors
- In June 2020, Joyner officially resigned and Jones was named the Aggies’ head coach moving forward
- Jones led the Aggies to a MEAC South title in 2020-21 but the season was cut short in March by positive COVID-19 tests
- In August 2022, the school parted ways with Jones; he finished his tenure with a 37-35 overall record
