  • Born September 9, 1953
  • Hometown: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
  • Alma Mater: Catawba College (BA, 1975) / Howard University (MA)
  • NC-native played at Catawba College (NC) before starting his coaching career in 1976
  • Spent 11 seasons as an assistant to A. B. Williamson at Howard
  • Became the head coach at South Carolina State, also in the MEAC, in 1987
  • Left for Tennessee State in 2003, coaching the Tigers for six seasons
    • Was 67-106 overall at TSU, finishing below .500 each year before getting fired in 2009
  • Alexander returned to the MEAC in 2012 as head coach at North Carolina A&T
    • Won the MEAC Tournament and returned to the Big Dance in his first season
    • Resigned in 2016 after a 5-17 start; the Aggies went 9-23 in each of the previous two seasons
  • Returned to the college game in August 2022 when he joined Landon Bussie‘s staff as an assistant at Alcorn State (SWAC)
