- Hometown: Hopkinsville, Kentucky
- Alma Mater: University of Nebraska at Omaha (BA, 1992)
- Played collegiately for long-time head coach Bob Hanson at then D-II Nebraska-Omaha and also got his coaching career started there, spending one year as an assistant under Kevin Lehman
- Played alongside Tony Stubblefield at Omaha; both went into coaching and worked on the same staff several times in their careers
- Spent one year assisting Tim Carter at UTSA before heading to Tyler JC (TX), where he later served as head coach for two seasons (35-28 overall)
- Returned to the D-I ranks in 2001 and spent the next two decades as an assistant coach, working under Lou Henson at NMSU, Neil Dougherty at TCU, Scott Sutton at Oral Roberts, Lon Kruger at Oklahoma and Eric Musselman at Arkansas
- Served as head coach at D-II East Central (OK) for one year, going 10-9 in a COVID-shortened schedule
- Spent the 2021-22 season on Dana Altman‘s staff at Oregon
- Made a return to his alma mater in March 2022 when he was hired as head coach at Omaha
