  • Hometown: Crete, Nebraska
  • Alma Mater: Eastern New Mexico (BS, 1980) / Western State (MBA, 1981)
  • Though he’s spent most of his career as a head coach, Altman was first an assistant for two seasons at D-II Western State (CO)
  • Was head coach for one season as the Southeast JC (NE), compiling a 29-6 overall record
  • Spent three seasons as the head coach at Moberly JC (MO), leading his team to an overall record of 94-18
  • Was an assistant at K-State for three years under head coach Lon Kruger before being hired as the Marshall head coach in 1989
  • Returned to K-State after just one year to replace Kruger as head coach, staying with the Wildcats for four seasons
  • Next was a sixteen-year run as the head coach at Creighton, where his Bluejays would become a perennial postseason fixture – including seven NCAA Tournaments – and won three MVC regular season titles along the way
  • Hired in 2010 as the new Oregon head coach, winning the 2011 CBI in his first season
  • Along with his wife, Reva, has three sons and one daughter
