- Alma Mater: University of South Dakota (BS, 1990 & MS, 1992)
- His father, Dave Lansing, was a HS coach in Iowa for 33 years and is in the Iowa HS Athletic Association Coaches Hall of Fame
- Played four seasons at (then D-II) South Dakota for head coaches Doug Martin and Dave Boots
- Started his coaching career as a graduate assistant (the full-time assistant) under Boots at South Dakota from 1990-1993
- Returned to Des Moines in 1993 to become the head basketball coach at Roosevelt High School
- First stint as an assistant coach at Indiana State was from 1996-1999, where he worked under Royce Waltman
- Spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa under head coach Steve Alford before returning to Indiana State in 2006
- After one more year as an ISU assistant he was promoted to associate head coach, a position he held from 2007-2010
- Took over as head coach in 2010, leading the team to a 20-14 overall record and a NCAA Tournament berth in his first season
- Has a record of 166-154 over ten seasons as the Sycamores’ head coach
- Led the team to the NIT in 2013 and 2014 and the CBI in 2012
- The school and Coach Lansing parted aways in March 2021 after eleven seasons as head coach, eighteen in total with ISU
- After working as a scout with the Philadelphia 76ers for a year, Lansing was hired in 2023 by Bobby Hurley to be a special assistant at Arizona State; a year later, the program moved to the Big 12
