- Hometown: Northbrook, Illinois
- Alma Mater: UNC Wilmington (BA, 1999)
- Played three seasons at UNCW for head coach Jerry Wainwright, later spending one season as his assistant
- Spent five total seasons as an assistant at UNCW, first under Wainwright then under Brad Brownell
- Before coaching, played professionally in France and Germany; also joined the Irish National Team in 2001
- Followed Brownell to Wright State as associate head coach, his position for four years before becoming head coach in 2010
- Took the Raiders to one CBI, one CIT and three times won 20+ games during his six-year tenure
- After being fired at WSU, Donlon joined John Beilein‘s staff at Michigan for a year
- Spent two years as an assistant under Chris Collins at Northwestern (also a native of Northbrook, IL)
- Hired in March 2019 to be the new head coach of the Kansas City (formerly UMKC) Kangaroos
- Went 46-39 over three seasons, including a 19-12 record in year three, before stepping down in April 2022
- Reunited with Brownell in April 2022, becoming the associate head coach at Clemson
- Married to the former Melissa McCracken
