  • Born October 5, 1962
  • Alma Mater: California State University, Northridge (BA, 1985)
  • After graduating from CSUN, Braswell became a teacher and head basketball coach at Cleveland HS in Reseda, CA
  • Hired in 1989 to be an assistant coach under Joe Harrington at Long Beach State; stayed on staff for three seasons total, the last two under new coach Seth Greenberg
  • Spent four seasons on Jerry Green‘s staff at Oregon, including a trip to the 1995 NCAA Tournament
  • Returned to alma mater CSUN in 1996, spending the next 17 seasons as the Matadors head coach
    • Went 251-258 during his tenure, winning two Big West titles, one Big Sky title and going to the NCAA Tournament twice
    • Fired in March 2013 following a fourth straight sub-.500 season
  • Joined Tim Floyd’s staff at UTEP in 2013 as director of basketball ops; elevated to assistant coach in 2016
  • After Floyd’s retirement in 2018, Braswell went back to Long Beach State to work under 49ers head coach Dan Monson
    • Braswell opted out of the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 concerns, then officially retired in June 2021
  • Along with his wife, Penny, has two sons and one daughter
