- Hometown: Roseville, Minnesota
- Alma Mater: University of Minnesota (BS, 1997 & MA, 1999)
- Was a student manager at Minnesota during his undergrad years, when the Gophers were coached by Clem Haskins
- Served as associate head coach for two seasons under Curt Kietzer at D-III Macalester while completing his masters
- Spent four years as an instructor at the Nike All-America camp before joining the Furman staff in 1999 as an assistant under Larry Davis, staying there until 2006
- After one season at his alma mater Minnesota under interim head coach Jim Molinari, Medved joined Tim Miles’ staff at Colorado State in 2007
- Hired in April 2013 as head coach at Furman, inheriting a 7-win team that had finished last place the year prior
- Had the Paladins in the CIT by year three and in year four, won 20+ games for the first time since 1991 and won a share of the SoCon regular season title
- Became the head basketball coach at Drake in March 2017, where he went 17-17 in just one season
- Hired in March 2018 to be the new head coach at Colorado State
- After winning 12 games in his first season, Medved led the Rams to 20 wins in year two and 18 wins and a NIT bid in year three
- The Rams won 25 games in both 2021-22 and 2023-24, earning at-large NCAA Tournament bids both seasons
