Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Coaches

Pac-12 men’s basketball programs and current head men’s coaches

The Pac-12 was formed in 1959 as the Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU), following the dissolution of the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC). The conference was at different times known as the Big Five, Big Six, Pacific-8 and Pacific-10. Though it’s final name came from “Pacific-12,” the conference became officially known as the shortened Pac-12 Conference in 2011.

During a round of nation-wide conference re-alignment, driven largely by football and television media rights, the programs in the Pac-12 began jumping to other power conferences. UCLA and USC were first, announcing in June 2022 that they would move to the Big Ten in 2024. Over the next year or so, eight more Pac-12 universities would find new homes, leaving just Oregon State and Washington State behind. Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah moved to the Big 12, California and Stanford moved to the ACC and Oregon and Washington joined the Trojans and Bruins in heading to the Big Ten.

OSU and WSU agreed to join the WCC as affiliate members in basketball, but continued to move forward with keeping the Pac-12 alive. The conference will operate with just those two members through the 2025-26 season and then will welcome five new universities joining from the Mountain West in 2026: Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State.

Below are the two current member schools in the Pac-12, though both teams are affiliate members of the WCC for the 2024-25 season:
