  • Born April 19, 1976
  • Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky
  • Alma Mater: University of Kentucky (BA, 1999)
  • Played for the Kentucky Wildcats, initially for head coach Rick Pitino and then for his final two seasons for Tubby Smith
    • Was a member of Kentucky’s 1998 NCAA National Championship team
    • Drafted with the 28th overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, with whom he played for four seasons
    • Also played with the Rockets, Nets, Grizzlies and CB Granada (Spain) before retiring in 2007
  • Started coaching career in 2009, spending one year as an assistant under John Calipari at alma mater Kentucky
  • Spent two years on the staff at Manhattan, one each under Barry Rohrssen and former UK teammate Steve Masiello
  • From 2012-14, Padgett assisted Bennie Seltzer at Samford and then in June 2014 was promoted to be the Bulldogs’ head coach
    • Led the team to the 2017 CIT in his third year at the helm
    • Went 84-115 overall and just 10-23 in 2019-20, leading to his firing in March 2020
  • In July 2020, Padgett was hired to be an assistant coach under Paul Weir at New Mexico; spent one year with the Lobos
  • Returned to Manhattan in 2021, joining Steve Masiello‘s staff as an assistant coach for the Jaspers
  • In August 2022, Padgett joined the Mississippi State as assistant to new head coach Chris Jans
  • Along with his wife, Cynthia, has two sons and one daughter
