- Alma Mater: University of Kentucky (BA, 2014)
- Spent four seasons as a walk-on at Kentucky, one under head coach Rick Pitino and then three under Tubby Smith
- While at Kentucky, he was a part of two Final Four teams, including the 1997-98 National Championship season
- Started coaching right after college as an administrative assistant on Shawn Finney‘s first staff at Tulane
- Worked as an assistant at Manhattan for four seasons under Bobby Gonzalez and then at Louisville under Pitino for six seasons
- Served as the head coach at Manhattan from 2011-22, going 162-177 overall during that tenure
- Led the Jaspers to two NCAA Tournaments by way of back-to-back MAAC Tournament crowns (2014 & 2015)
- Agreed to become the next head coach at South Florida in March 2014, but had his offer rescinded by the school after it was discovered he had never graduated from Kentucky (despite his resume stating he had)
- He was retained by Manhattan, but placed on leave until he received his UK degree
- Masiello completed his graduation requirements and received his bachelor’s degree in August 2014
- Received a contract extension in February 2020, keeping him at Manhattan through 2022-23 season
- In October 2022, less than two weeks before the start of the season, Masiello was fired as head coach
- Reunited with Pitino that same year, joining the coaching staff at MAAC rival Iona as director of basketball operations
- Following the season, Pitino took the St. John’s job and Masiello came with as his associate head coach
