- Born March 15, 1972
- Hometown: Walkersville, Maryland
- Alma Mater: Armstrong Atlantic State University (BA, 1995) / National University (MA, 1996)
- Played at DeMatha Catholic HS in Hyattsville, MD under famous head coach Morgan Wootten
- Began his college career at Kings River CC and finished at Armstrong Atlantic State in Savannah, GA
- Started coaching career in 1996 as an assistant to Steve Cleveland at Fresno CC; moved on to BYU a year later when Cleveland became the Cougars’ head coach
- Spent one year as an assistant under Steve McClain at Wyoming then three years as the head coach at Portland State
- Left Portland in 2007 to rejoin Cleveland as associate head coach at Fresno State for two seasons
- Returned to Wyoming in 2007 as head coach, where he lead the Cowboys to the 2009 CBI but was fired just 9 games into the 2011 conference season
- Hired as Dave Rice‘s assistant head coach at UNLV a couple months later, where he worked for three seasons
- Served as the head coach at Tennessee-Martin for two years, going to the CIT twice, but left in 2016 to be the Mark Gottfried‘s assistant head coach at NC State
- Hired in March 2018 as the new head coach at McNeese State, singing a three-year contract
- Had his deal extended through the 2022-23 season in April 2020
- Named interim athletic director in June 2020 and was given the title permanently that same December
- In March 2021, Schroyer resigned as head basketball coach to focus solely on being athletic director at McNeese
- Married to the former Kim Ortega; has two children from previous marriage
