- Born June 28, 1974
- Hometown: Virginia Beach, Virginia
- Alma Mater: Hampden-Sydney College (BA, 1996) / University of Virginia (JD, 1999)
- Played for Tony Shaver at D-III Hampden-Sydney (VA); helped lead the Tigers to two NCAAs and was team captain as a senior
- Went on to Virginia to earn a law degree, returning to Hampden-Sydney to spend one year as an assistant under Shaver in 1999
- Spent the next sixteen years in the private sector in Houston, founding an oil and gas company, working as CFO of an investment firm and serving as a partner in a law firm
- Was also the head coach for several high-profile AAU programs in the Houston area
- Returned to college basketball in 2016 as the director of recruiting/program development under Ryan Odom at UMBC
- Was on the staff in March 2018 when UMBC became the first 16-seed to defeat a 1-seed (Virginia) in NCAA Tournament history
- Hired a few days later to be the new head coach at Longwood in Farmville, VA
- Went 16-18 in his first season with a trip to the 2019 CBI, the first-ever D-I postseason for the program
- In 2021-22, Aldrich led the Lancers to their first-ever Big South (North Division) title and Big South Tournament crown, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history; Aldrich was named Big South COY
- Won the Big South Tournament again in 2024 as the 5-seed to make a second trip in three years to the NCAA Tournament
