  • Starred at Schenley HS in Pittsburgh before going on to play for longtime head coach Chick Davies at Duquesne
    • Played professionally in Pittsburgh from 1935-39 while also coaching at the high school level
  • Later succeeded Davies as head coach at his alma mater, coaching the Dukes for ten seasons
    • Went to the NIT six times and the NCAA Tournament once, finishing with a 191-70 record over his full tenure
      • Were NIT Runners-up in 1954 and then won the NIT the following season
    • Inducted into the Duquesne Athletics Hall of Fame in 1965 following his tenures as a player and coach
  • Became the head coach at La Salle in 1958 and went 79-37 in five seasons at the helm
  • Passed away in 1984 at the age of 74 following a long battle with illness
