- Hometown: Tallahassee, Florida
- Alma Mater: North Greenville College (BA, 1999)
- The Florida-native played football and basketball at North Florida Christian School and then initially went to play college basketball for head coach Jarrett Durham at Robert Morris; transferred after his freshman year and played two seasons for Jeff Meyer at Liberty
- Finished his playing career at NAIA Covenant College (GA), where he was a two-time All-American for the Scots
- After some brief spells playing overseas and semi-professionally in the States, Luther got his bachelor’s from North Greenville College (now University) in South Carolina – he would also start his coaching career there as an assistant for two seasons
- Became a graduate assistant at Mercer in 2001, working under head coach Mark Slonaker, then was made an assistant coach in 2002
- Hired in 2007 to be the head coach at D-II Newberry College (SC), where he went 33-24 over two seasons – including 21 wins in year two
- Spent four seasons as the head coach at D-II Armstrong Atlantic State (GA), going 51-56 overall
- Joined Tim Craft‘s staff at Gardner-Webb as an assistant in 2013 and was elevated to associate head coach in 2017
- Was on staff for eleven seasons in total and was part of the 2018-19 squad that won the Big South Tournament to get to the Big Dance
- Promoted to head coach at Gardner-Webb in March 2024 following Craft’s departure to Western Carolina
