  • Graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS in Dallas, then after two years at Lon Morris College (TX) played for coach Archie Porter at Sam Houston State
  • Started out coaching at the prep level with stints at McCallum HS (TX) and Austin HS (TX)
  • Spent one year as the head coach at McLennan CC in Waco, TX
  • First arrived at Baylor in 1973 as an assistant at Baylor, spending four seasons working under Carroll Dawson
    • Elevated to head coach towards the end of the 1976-77 season, following Dawson’s resignation
    • Went 102-130 overall in 7+ years at the helm, with three winning seasons; won Southwest COY in 1981
    • Resigned in 1985 amid potential NCAA violations
  • After his coaching career ended, Haller worked as a college basketball analyst for ESPN Radio and Fox Sports Radio in Texas
