  • Played for four years at Grinnell College (IA) for head coach David Arseneault; won MWC titles as a sophomore and senior
  • Started his coaching career back in Texas at UTEP, where he was a graduate assistant under Billy Gillispie and an administrative assistant (program specialist) for one year under Doc Sadler
  • Followed Sadler to Nebraska in 2006, spending the next six years working as video coordinator for the Huskers’ program
  • Returned to his home state in 2012 to be the director of basketball operations for Tubby Smith at Texas Tech for one year
  • Spent the next seven seasons, six as an assistant coach, working under Danny Kaspar at Texas State
  • Reunited with Gillispie for one year, working as one of his assistants at Tarleton State in 2020-21, the program’s first in D-I
  • Hired by Steve Lutz in 2021 to be an assistant at Texas A&M-CC and was part of two-straight NCAA appearances with the Islanders
  • In March 2023, Shaw was promoted to head coach of the Islanders after Lutz departed for Western Kentucky
