Alma Mater: Grinnell College (BA, 2003) / University of Texas at El Paso (MBA, 2005)
Played for four years at Grinnell College (IA) for head coach David Arseneault; won MWC titles as a sophomore and senior
Started his coaching career back in Texas at UTEP, where he was a graduate assistant under Billy Gillispie and an administrative assistant (program specialist) for one year under Doc Sadler
Followed Sadler to Nebraska in 2006, spending the next six years working as video coordinator for the Huskers’ program
Returned to his home state in 2012 to be the director of basketball operations for Tubby Smith at Texas Tech for one year
Spent the next seven seasons, six as an assistant coach, working under Danny Kaspar at Texas State
Reunited with Gillispie for one year, working as one of his assistants at Tarleton State in 2020-21, the program’s first in D-I
Hired by Steve Lutz in 2021 to be an assistant at Texas A&M-CC and was part of two-straight NCAA appearances with the Islanders
In March 2023, Shaw was promoted to head coach of the Islanders after Lutz departed for Western Kentucky
