- Matthew Furjanic Jr.
- Born October 26, 1950
- Hometown: Rankin, Pennsylvania
- Alma Mater: Point Park College (BA, 1973)
- Played on the freshman team at Pittsburgh then transferred to Point Park (PA), where he played on the JV team
- Started his coaching career at General Braddock HS (PA), first as an assistant (1972-75) then as head coach (1975-77)
- Spent two seasons as an assistant under Tom Weirich at Robert Morris before becoming the head coach in 1979
- Went 73-71 in five seasons at the helm, building up from single-digit wins to three-straight ECACM (now NEC) titles
- Also won conference tournament crowns in 1982 and 1983 to reach the first two NCAA Tournaments in program history
- Inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame as an individual in 2007 and with the 1982-83 NCAA Tournament squad in 2014
- Left Robert Morris for conference rival Marist in 1984, winning a fourth league title in 1985 (the first for the program)
- Was 36-24 in two seasons, including a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 1986 for the first-time in program history
- Furjanic coached future NBA All-Star Rik Smits while at Marist; was fired in 1986 despite the success he and his staff had
- Was the head coach at Woodland Hills HS in Pittsburgh from 1991 to 1995
- Spent five seasons as the head coach at D-III Pitt-Greensburg, going 68-61 during that tenure
- Improved from 7 wins in his first season to 17 and 21 wins in his fourth and fifth seasons, respectively
- Won two AMCC Tournament titles and played in the ECAC D-III postseason tournament twice
- From 2000 to 2017, Furjanic was the head coach NCJAA Polk State College in Winter Haven, Florida
- He was 319-214 overall and won six Suncoast Conference titles (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013)
- Returned to Woodland Hills HS (PA) for a second stint as head coach in 2019 but resigned in January 2021
- Inducted into the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame (East Boros Chapter) in 1990 and the Pittsburgh Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013
