- Alma Mater: Memphis State University (BA, 1991)
- An All-State guard at Melrose HS in Memphis, Madlock went on to play for Larry Finch at Memphis State from 1988-92
- Was a three-year starter and helped lead the team – alongside Penny Hardaway – to two NCAA Tournaments and two NITs
- Started his coaching career as an assistant and teacher for three years at alma mater Melrose HS (TN)
- Spent nine seasons at Arkansas State, including six as assistant head coach, working under head coach Dickey Nutt
- Part of the ASU squads that won the Sun Belt in 1998 and went to the NCAA Tournament in 1999
- Worked as an assistant under Tony Barbee for eight seasons, four each at UTEP (2006-10) and Auburn (2010-14)
- Hired in 2014 by Andy Kennedy at Ole Miss, where he was a part of one NCAA Tournament (2015) and one NIT (2017)
- Served as interim head coach for the last five games of the 2017-18 season following Kennedy’s resignation, going 1-4
- Reconnected with his college teammate Penny Hardaway in 2018, spending the next three seasons as an assistant at their alma mater
- In March 2021, Madlock was hired as head coach at South Carolina State; went 15-16 in his lone season there
- Left in April 2022 to become the head coach at Alabama State in the SWAC
