Travis Ford fired after eight seasons as Saint Louis head coach

Saint Louis announced on Wednesday evening the firing of head men’s basketball coach Travis Ford after eight seasons. Ford went 146-109 overall and 13-20 (5-13 A-10) this season.

“For eight years, Travis led our men’s basketball program with passion and dignity,” AD Chris May said. “This decision was not made lightly. It is our expectation to regularly compete for conference championships and play in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, we have not met these expectations the last several years. We thank Travis for his dedication to SLU and wish him the best in the future.”

The Billikens finished above .500 in all but Ford’s first and final season, winning 20+ games in five occasions. His lone trip to the NCAA Tournament with the program came in 2019, but they also went to the NIT in both 2021 and 2022.
