Aaron Fearne officially hired as Charlotte head men’s basketball coach

Charlotte announced on Monday that interim head men’s basketball coach Aaron Fearne has been officially hired into the job. The 49ers are 15-8 overall under Fearne this year and currently just one game out of the top spot in the AAC at 9-2.

“From the moment he took over the basketball program last summer, Aaron Fearne has demonstrated that he is the right man for this job,” AD Mike Hill said in a statement. “In our first year in the AAC, he has our team competing for a league championship and has completely re-energized our fan base. The players believe in him and so do we. This is a great day for Niner Nation.”

Fearne took over in July when former head coach Ron Sanchez resigned to take an associate head coach job at Virginia. Last year’s team went 22-14 and won the CBI Championship.
