Interim head coach Chris Casey officially hired at Fairfield

Chris Casey has been officially named head coach at Fairfield after leading the Stags to a 20-11 (14-6) record as interim head coach this season. Casey joined the Fairfield staff as an assistant in 2019 and was given the interim job in October when previous head coach Jay Young stepped down just before the season tipped off.

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity. Fairfield is an outstanding university on an exceptional trajectory,” said Casey. “To be given the chance to lead our men’s basketball program is an honor and the task will always get our best efforts. Thank you to President Mark Nemec and Vice President for Athletics Paul Schlickmann for their support and confidence in us. This has been a very successful season and we look forward to continuing that success in the future! Go Stags!”

The Stags enter the MAAC Tournament as the 2-seed, finishing one game behind Quinnipiac in the league standings, and will face the winner of Iona (7) and Manhattan (10) on Wednesday in Atlantic City.
