Geno Ford elevated to head coach at Stony Brook

Geno Ford has the “interim” tag removed on Tuesday, as the veteran coach was given the head coaching role in earnest at Stony Brook. Ford coached the Seawolves in the CBI after Jeff Boals resigned to take over at Ohio. Ford had been on Boals’ staff for all three seasons for which he was at the helm at SBU.

“My focus during this search was to find the best coach to build on the success that our program has enjoyed and more importantly, the right fit for this team,” AD Shawn Heilbron said in a statement. “In doing so, it became clear that Geno would become the next head coach of our men’s basketball program.”

Ford has an overall coaching record of 165-156, with stints leading Bradley, Kent State, D-III Muskingum and NAIA Shawnee State. The Ohio-native was 1993 Mr. Basketball in his home state and played for the Ohio Bobcats in 1990s.
