  • Alma Mater: Louisiana State University (BS, 1985) / University of New Orleans (M.Ed, 1996)
  • Played at Archbishop Rummel HS (LA), where he played for two Louisiana state championships
  • Served as a student assistant for two years at LSU for coach Dale Brown; part of one NCAA Tournament and one NIT
  • Started his coaching career in earnest at Archbishop Shaw HS (LA), where he was an assistant coach for two years before getting elevated to head coach in 1986; went 109-45 in four seasons at the helm and won the district and state championship in 1989
  • Moved back to the college ranks in 1990, becoming an assistant coach at New Orleans under Tim Floyd
    • Was an assistant at UNO for seven seasons – four under Floyd and three more under Tic Price – and was a part of three NCAA Tournaments and two NITs during that time
  • Elevated to head coach of the Privateers in 1997; went 57-58 over four seasons at the helm
    • Was unable to maintain the success of his predecessors, missing the postseason in all four seasons
    • Improved to 17-12 in his final season and was named 2001 Sun Belt COY, but was fired that March
  • Stiebing served as head coach of the Qatar National Team from 2003-07; went 125-60 overall
    • Qatar won the West Asian championship in 2005 and qualified for the FIBA World Championships for the first time after finishing third at the 2005 Asian Championships; also won a silver medal at the 2006 Asian Games
  • Spent three seasons as an assistant under Dr. Michael Giorlando at NAIA Loyola University New Orleans (LA)
  • Coached professional basketball overseas, with two stints as the head coach at Sichuan Jingiang Blue Whales in China (2010-11 and 2012-14), Fujian SBS Sturgeons in China (2011-2012) and Al-Sharjah Basketball Club in UAE (2014-15)
  • Returned to D-I basketball in 2015, becoming a special assistant to head coach Jay Ladner at Southeastern Louisiana
    • Elevated to assistant the following year, working in that role for two seasons; part of the 2018 team that went to the NIT
