Mark Adams elevated to head coach at Texas Tech

Mark Adams, who had been associate head coach since 2019, has been elevated to head coach at Texas Tech, the school announced on Monday evening. Adams is a Tech alum and is considered the “architect” of the Red Raider defense that has terrorized the Big 12 and allowed the program to reach its first-ever Final Four back in 2019.

Former head coach Chris Beard, whom Adams worked under for the last six seasons (including one at Little Rock) left last week to be the head coach at his own alma mater – and Big 12 rival – Texas.

The news was announced via tweet from AD Kirby Holcutt, with a press conference scheduled for Tuesday. Story will be updated.
