  • The Arkansas-native was initially a walk-on at Richmond, spending two years playing for Jerry Wainwright before earning a scholarship his junior year from new head coach Chris Mooney
    • Started 60 games in his final two years, serving as team captain as a senior in 2006-07
  • Started his coaching career at Eastern Kentucky, working as an operations assistant under head coach Jeff Neubauer
  • Returned to his alma mater in 2008 and spent five years on staff as Chris Mooney‘s director of basketball ops
  • Left in 2013 to join the staff at Campbell with newly-hired head coach Kevin McGeehan, who had worked with Thomas at Richmond
    • Spent nine years with the Camels, the last five as associate head coach; part of three postseason bids and one Big South title
  • Came back to Richmond once again in 2022 to become an assistant coach under Chris Mooney
    • In February 2023, Mooney took a medical leave of absence and Thomas served as interim head coach for six games (2-4)
    • Promoted to associate head coach starting with the 2023-24 season
