- Jones played four seasons at LMU under head coaches Jay Hillock and John Olive
- Played professionally in Italy, France, Japan, Lebanon and South Korea between 1995 and 2001
- Hired in 2002 as an assistant under Paul Westphal at Pepperdine, staying on his staff for four seasons
- Spent two seasons on Steve Alford‘s staff at New Mexico before joining Rick Pitino at Louisville in 2011
- Returned to his home state in 2015, becoming an assistant at California under Cuonzo Martin
- In March 2017, Jones was hired to replace Martin as the head coach of the Golden Bears
- Fired in March 2019 after just two seasons, going 16-47 during that tenure
- Spent two seasons on Mike Hopkins’ staff at Washington as an assistant (2021-23)
