Dave Pilipovich fired as Air Force head coach

After eight-plus seasons as the head coach at Air Force, Dave Pilipovich was fired on Monday, the school announced. The news comes less than year after the school had extended Pilipovich’s contract for three years (through 2022-23).

Pilipovich was 110-151 during his tenure, which included eight full seasons (2012-20) and the final eight games of the 2011-12 season. He had been an assistant at Air Force since 2007 before getting the head coach gig – his first at any level – in 2012. The Falcons finished above .500 just once under Pilipovich (2012-13), his first full season in which they earned a CIT bid.

Some names that might make sense for Air Force moving forward: Missouri assistant Chris Hollender (service academy experience at Army), Colorado assistant (and former San Diego head coach) Bill Grier and Grand Canyon assistant (and former UNLV, New Mexico State head coach) Marvin Menzies.
