  • A three-sport star at Central HS (IA), Twogood played baseball and basketball (under Sam Barry) at Iowa
    • Spent the summers after graduation playing minor league baseball and the winters coaching with Barry at USC
  • With his playing career over, Twogood became the head basketball and baseball coach at Idaho in 1936
  • Spent one year as the head basketball coach at San Francisco, going 14-10 in 1941-42
  • Served in the US Navy during World War II, then worked in the private sector after the war ended
  • Returned to coaching in 1949, assisting Barry for one season at USC before taking over as the Trojans’ head coach
    • Went 252-178 in sixteen seasons at the helm, reaching the NCAA Tournament three times
    • Led the Trojans to the NCAA Final Four in 1954 and won two PCC regular season titles
    • Retired from coaching in 1966 and became the assistant athletic director at USC
  • Passed away from cancer at age 64; survived by wife, Eleanor, two sisters and several nieces and nephews
