  • Spent three seasons playing for the Philadelphia Warriors in the BAA, winning the league title in 1947
  • Started his coaching career at Penn in 1948, going 105-51 over six seasons as the Quakers’ head coach
    • Led the program to an Ivy League title in 1953, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history
    • Also coached the baseball team for six years, winning a league title in 1953
  • Left Penn for Stanford in 1954, coaching at his alma mater for the next 21 seasons
  • Passed away in 1991 from congestive heart failure at the age of 69
