Louisville assistant Mike Balado announced as new Arkansas State head coach
Mike Balado, an assistant at Louisville for the last five seasons, has officially been introduced as the new head coach at Arkansas State. Balado is a long-time assistant getting his first head coaching gig at the Sun Belt school.
Balado will reunite with athletic director Terry Mohajir, the two working together previously at Florida Atlantic. “Without a doubt, I think there is no one in the country more prepared to lead our program at this time than Mike Balado,” Mohajir said.
Balado is the latest addition to Rick Pitino‘s coaching tree. He also spent time as an assistant to Richard Pitino, Frank Haith and Matt Doherty, among others.
He replaces Grant McCasland, who left the program after just one season to take over at North Texas.
