Dave Dickerson resigns as USC Upstate head coach to take job at Ohio State
Dave Dickerson is leaving USC Upstate after six seasons as head coach to return to Ohio State as an assistant under new head coach Jake Diebler. Dickerson previously worked under Thad Matta at OSU from 2010-17.
“I want to sincerely thank coach Dickerson for his contributions to Upstate men’s basketball over the past six seasons,” said AD Matthew Martin. “Dave has been a great ambassador for our University in the community, and stewarded our program with integrity and class throughout his tenure. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Dickerson went 65-117 overall at Upstate, leading the program to two postseason bids (2022 TBC and 2023 CIT). The Spartans finished 10-20 this past season.
“It was my pleasure to serve USC Upstate as the head men’s basketball coach the last six years. I am forever grateful for the support Chancellor Harris and his administration, my staff, my players, and especially the Spartanburg community,” said Dickerson. “Lastly, I want to thank #SpartanArmy for your unwavering support of men’s basketball. I will always be a Spartan and their number one fan.”
