Phil Martelli Jr. officially hired as head coach at Bryant
After several months as acting head coach, Phil Martelli Jr. has been officially given the job at Bryant.
“We are excited to name Phil Martelli Jr. the head coach of Bryant men’s basketball,” AD Bill Smith said in a statement. “As Associate Head Coach, he was instrumental in building Bryant Basketball into one of the top mid-major programs in the country. With Phil’s skills, values and commitment, the future of Bryant basketball is in good hands.”
Martelli has been with the program since 2018 and in 2020 was elevated to associate head coach. He is the son of Phil Martelli Sr, the long-time head coach at Saint Joseph’s who is currently on staff at Michigan.
The Bulldogs are 1-2 to start the season and will visit Boston University of Thursday.
