- Robert DeLafayette Jeter III
- Born May 15, 1969
- Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
- Alma Mater: University of Wisconsin-Platteville (BS, 1991 & MA, 2001)
- Grew up in Chicago where his dad, Bob Jeter, played cornerback for the Chicago Bears – he previously spent seven seasons with the Packers and was a second round pick in the 1960 NFL Draft out of Iowa
- Played at Quigley South Prep in Chicago and then at Division III UW-Platteville under Hall of Fame head coach Bo Ryan
- Was 102-16 during his career and was captain in 1991 when the Pioneers won the NCAA D-III National Championship
- Inducted into both the UW-Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame and the WIAC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006
- After a short professional career overseas, Jeter joined Ryan‘s staff at Platteville as an assistant for four seasons
- Coached at Marquette under Mike Deane for one year before re-joining Ryan at Milwaukee in 1999; then followed Ryan to Wisconsin in 2001 where he was on the Badgers staff for four seasons
- Hired as the head coach at Milwaukee in 2005, where he led the Panthers for 11 seasons
- Won 184 games and went to the postseason four times, including two NCAA Tournaments
- Twice won the Horizon League regular season and twice won the conference tournament, doing both in his first year
- Named 2011 Horizon COY after leading the Panthers to a 13-5 conference record and a (tied for) first place finish
- Fired in April 2016 following a 20-13 (10-8) season
- Hired as an assistant at UNLV under new head coach Marvin Menzies a month later in May 2016
- In April 2018 moved on to Minnesota to be an assistant under head coach Richard Pitino
- Hired in March 2020 to be the head coach at Western Illinois, a return to his home state
- After a 7-15 first year, Jeter’s teams won 16 games in each of his second and third seasons; went 39-45 overall at WIU
- Left WIU in April 2023 to become the new head coach at Southern Utah in the WAC
